Biography

Emily Davis is a researcher in dance, health, and social science. She recently completed her PhD jointly across the University of St Andrews, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and Glasgow Caledonian University, in partnership with Scottish Ballet, focusing on their dance programme for people living with multiple sclerosis. Her research interests span the broader field of arts and health, previously holding several research consultancy positions, including with Scottish Ballet, Glasgow Life, and Dance Base. Before relocating to the UK, Emily earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was honoured as a Dean's Scholar and Thouron Scholar. While pursuing her undergraduate studies, she danced professionally full-time with the Philadelphia Ballet (2015–2021) and led dance for health programmes across the city. Through her practice and research, Emily aims to bridge her professional ballet background with her academic interests to explore the impact of dance on the health of individuals and communities, particularly those with chronic neurological conditions.
