Philip Plyming appointed Dean of Durham Cathedral

The College is delighted with the news that the Warden of Cranmer Hall, Revd Canon Dr Philip Plyming, has been appointed as the new Dean of Durham Cathedral. This is an exciting new phase for both Philip and the Cathedral and strengthens the already strong partnership St John's holds with the Cathedral.

Bishop Pontien Joins as Visiting Fellow

We are delighted to have Bishop Pontein with us as a Visiting Fellow from 15 April to 5 June.The Right Revd Pontien Ribakare is currently Bishop of the Diocese of Rutana in Burundi, Central-East Africa. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Bujumbura Christian University (BCU’s governing body) as well as Chairman of the General Assembly of the Burundi Mission Alliance. He is also a member of the Anglican Consultative Council, within the Anglican Communion.

In Memoriam: Professor Tom McLeish FRS

It is with great sadness that the College heard of the death of Professor Tom McLeish. Tom was for many years a great friend to the College and long time co-investigator on our Equipping Christian Leadership in an Age of Science (ECLAS) project. Tom founded the project with the Principal and contributed wisdom, boundless energy and a passion which celebrated both science and Christian faith.

ECLAS receives £6M grant for global outreach

The Equipping Christian Leadership in an Age of Science project at St John’s has been awarded a five-year, £6.2million grant to support bishops and senior Christian leaders worldwide to engage with science.
